We don’t write about trends, it-things, seasonal must-haves, wardrobe issues, losing weight, top five restaurants, marital problems or politics.

We write about people.

About

The Folks of Amsterdam is an independent interview magazine founded by Dorien Franken, in 2016. It shares in-depth stories of today's creatives, risk-takers and adventurous folks of Amsterdam. Besides interviews The Folks publishes video portraits and offers pop-up events throughout the city where creative people can gather to share, learn and grow.

The magazine is made by a small, hardworking team, all working and living in Amsterdam. Our mission is to tell stories that inspire change. We've devoted the magazine entirely to human-centered content, asking vibrant, independent folks of Amsterdam about their failures and their glories and the crossroads of their stories.

The Folks of Amsterdam is ad-free and comes with no hidden subscriptions.

In 2020 the project discontinued publishing. To keep you inspired, we’re offering a limited edition magazine featuring a collection of our most adventurous stories. A few copies are still available. Email us if you are interested in buying one.
